Empire state of mind

September 19, 2010

Colin Hesterly is a very talented individual who will definitely go places if his work to date is anything to go by. Still studying in The Florida his work ranges from animation, motion graphics to photography. He’s got a cinematic eye and there’s a real commercial flavour to all his work.

Nice stuff here.

Adam bomb

April 9, 2010

John Pound is an incredible comic book artist who is probably most famous worldwide for his illustrations that adorned The Garbage Pail Kids stickers and cards in the 80’s. You used to collect the cards by buying Topps chewing gum and were greeted with such fab illustrations as Adam Bomb and Drew Blood. You can view this bit of nostalgia here.

My new favourite band

April 7, 2010

It’s so bad, it’s good. I sort of half expect Aphex Twin to appear at some point. Very windowlicker, very cool. Next stop headline at Glasto?

Fly me to the moon…or the Himalayas, I’m easy

March 21, 2010

The clever peeps at Flype have developed my new favourite toy.  Flype is a fantastic new app for your iphone that allows you to use the compass and tilt functionality of your phone to control/fly a plane over a 3d realised version of google earth. And for those of you who don’t have an iphone you can use the impressive pooter version called Earthglider. Hours of fun and the future of gaming. Gutter tech at it’s best.

Green screen

March 12, 2010

If you’re the lest bit interested in tv and the moovies. Then you’ll find this little showreel of how shots are put together quite fascinating. Nice.

Mumford’s the word

January 24, 2010

Dan Mumford is an incredibly talented illustrator/designer/printer. His detailed but dirty silk screen technique is really bold and works so well for the gig posters he’s created. Fab designs here. Check out the making process here.

This weekend saw the release of the new adidas star wars collection? The teaser ad has a cool slick party vibe, ala adidas’ house party, with of course the obligatory David Beckham shot. Sneaker fans are invited to visit the adidas facebook page to find out release info etc, etc, yawn.

Avatar the official game, in 1979

January 17, 2010

The very talented people at Penneydesign have come up with some nice retro themed games covers based on contemporary movie releases. My personal favourite is Cloverfield, more gaming fun here.
