I don’t know who this guy is, but he’s pretty angry about the state of business card design. I’m not fussed either way.

Tomorrow is the online premiere of the new Gorillaz film “GO BANANAZ”. The film is a documentary about the remarkable real world of Gorillaz the most successful animated band ever.

It spans the life of the band from 2000 to 2006, from first drawings, animations, music and the musicians, through to the faces behind the voices of Murdoc, 2D, Noodle and Russel Hobbs. The result is an unsanitised, free-wheeling documentary film; an intimate, honest and often hilarious account of the working relationship between Albarn and Hewlett. With appearances by many of those who occasionally pass through this world ; Dennis Hopper, De la Soul, Ibrahim Ferrer, Dangermouse, Dan the Automator, D12, Bootie Brown and Neneh Cherry.

What makes this documentary truly incredible is that it is being premiered online and for free, before it’s worldwide cinema release later this month. The film is being screened by Babelgum, which is a free to view, advertiser funded online video site. It will be interesting to see if this a change in the way films are released in the future. You can watch a preview here. Enjoy.

Guess who’s back?

The near reclusive director Chris Cunningham is back with an ad for…wait for it Flora by Gucci. What? Yes, Chris has decided to return to the directing game with a perfume ad. Never the most adventurous or interesting genre of advertising, but Chris clearly felt he could earn a few quid by making in affect a 60 sec music video. It does bare similarities to a video he made years ago for Madonna.

All in all it’s nicely shot, the effects are subtle and quirky as you’d expect, but i reckon you ‘d be hard pressed to guess who directed it. Although there is the added bonus of a Chris Cunningham remix of Donna Summer’s “I feel love”.

Check out the ad here and the making of here.
